    1/8 microstepping should be smoother, with really no cons.

    my machine is much faster set at 1/4 but will i still get a fine finish

    The question, is why is it faster? Does it stall when you use 1/8 microstepping, or are you maxed out on your steps/second?

    No the machine slow an can't get to 140ipm so what i was wounding is about 1/4 will i still be able to hit a .001 step ?
