Default Mach3--What role does the non-integrated graphics card play?

I see that MACH3 recommends an external graphics card of 512MB or 1GB for 3D programs. Wondering how Mach3 uses the graphics card. I've been running on Windows XP on the internal graphics card and wondering what I can gain by going external.
    Thanks.

    You won't really gain anything.
The requirement for a dedicated graphics card was for PC's from 12-15 years ago. Back then, many PC's with integrated graphics would not run Mach3 at all.
