I been in the process of designing a machine and was wondering if you can use for example A axis to index part forward to the next spacing then begin drilling and milling operation?
SEE IMAGE BELOW.
Any ideas on how to index part forward to the next hole and start the same gcode would really help.
Re: Can you Use stepper motors to index part forward?
Sure, looks like it would work fine. Exactly how you do it in G-code might depend on what CNC controller you are running. You would just make 2 sub-routines, one to make the hole, and one to index the work forward with the A axis.. The main program would just call the subroutines the number of times that would complete the run on the workpiece.
Re: Can you Use stepper motors to index part forward?
Hi Jim,
Thank you for your response. I am using ESS for controls. I like the idea of using Sub routines that might actually work perfect..
Will keep you posted.
