If I remember correctly, there is a "Reversed" setting under Homing and Limits. Check that for your X and Z axes and that should take care of your problem.
Hi, i have the Syil X5+ CNC machine, using MasterCAM X5 for solidworks and Mach 3.
after getting the tool paths to mach3, the Z and X axis are moving in the opposite direction than what they should be moving.
how do you change that ???

Config, hotkeys will fix the keys.
Z+ the head moves UP.
X+ the table moves to the left.
Y+ the table moves towards you.
If this is how it is, then fix the post processor in mastercam.
Or are you viewing the job from the bottom??

thanks for the hot key idea ... ill look into that
i just ended up switching the part zero to the other side of me stock...
im not sure how to change the post processor in x3 ....but it would be nice to draw and toolpath from the same percpective

If you're not, then the machine is running backwards. Which would explain why it's jogging backwards.but it would be nice to draw and toolpath from the same perspective

Thanks for the advice 'Bill-the-cat' Home and limits, then reversed, fixed my problem
I have a related question! Do you know if it is possible to reverse the axis instantly on mach3?
I just had the idea after reading the entry... To make my machine easier to use for the user, changing the place of 2 axis would be a great idea. But i must be able to do it without closing the program just with a button... Anybody has an idea?
Press the other key. Try wearing mirrored glasses half the time. Yo will soon trip over.
Conventions used since CNC was paper tape are consistent in XYZ, but the learning curves vary.
On X5 Table moves.. (or should IMHO)
Left to right = X0 to X-
Away from you = Y0 to Y-
Head down = Z0 to Z-
Looking DOWN on the JOB as in tour CAD/CAM package,
Y- is furthest away
X- is on the left
Z- is down.
If you consider a 0,0,0 to be the far right top corner of a workpiece all negative values
mean the tool is IN the workpiece.
You can have 0,0,0 where ever you like, but the directions never change.
Just your point of reference.

G-Code Tutorial: The Coordinate System
It probably helps if your cursor jogging keys make the table move in the direction of the arrow, at least for X and Y.
Pgup and Pgdn for Z up and down.
If the keys don't suit your needs, just change them, and use arrows to make sense.
It can be confusing if the left key moves the table to the right.

hi; Im in the process of setting up my little CNC late, and I would like to use it the same way then the slant bed CNC lathes that I use at work, (Hardinge and mori-seiki, ) the problem is that mach3 wants to show and do the toolpaths in the conventional lathe way, IE: with the tool in the operator side, can anyone please suggest ways of modifying mach 3 so it will work that way?
thanks
