"Test this axis/Run", and a limit switch

When using the "Test this axis" window, and the "Run" command, does operating the limit switch stop the motor running ?
In other words can I use this to find the correct settings for the limit switch for each axis ?
At the moment, it has no effect, and I don't know if it's because the setting in the parallel port window is incorrect, or if I have another problem elsewhere.

I've set up just the X axis motor connected to the controller, and gone through every possible setting for pin 11, my X limit input, both normal and inverted.
When I use the "Run" command in the "Test this Axis" window, none of the settings produced any change when the N/C limit switch was pressed. The motor continued to run.

Now added the Y and Z motors, with a N/C limit switch each, to the controller.
No change is apparent in that the controller ignores the X and Z limit switches, but requires the Y limit to be open for that one to operate.

    All is solved.

The contoller needs an inverted enable signal on pin one for the Y axis to behave like the other two axis.

"Test the axis " I'm informed, doesn't react to the limit switches, so I'll have to go back to a real set up to locate and test them.
