Greetings, folks. I'm looking for volunteers who want to try my new G-Wizard Machinist's calculator software out on Linux. It is based on Adobe Flash + AIR. I've got 1 or 2 Linux users in the Beta who tell me it works fine, but feel like a few more would be helpful making sure it is well shook out. If you're interested, this page tells how to get set up and more about what G-Wizard can do: http://www.cnccookbook.com/CCGWizard.html Cheers, BW

| Bob; I followed your first post on this early on, and it seemed promising. Now a nix flavored version, yummy. I will give it a try when I retrieve my EeePC 900a Netbook which I left behind at a friends house. It has the N270 Atom 1.6GHz 2Gb ram and a 32GB SSD. It is dual boot Eeebuntu v8.10 and Win XP Pro SP3. I also run the EMC2 Sim on this. I have XP so I can use Solidworks - but that has been a bust because for some reason I can't get it to load from a USB drive - my only option on a netbook. |

| Thanks fellas. As long as it runs Adobe Flash/AIR, it should be fine. Details of what you need to do to join the Beta test are here: http://www.cnccookbook.com/CCGWizard.html Best, BW

| Hey Bob, I sent you a mail regarding the beta. Just playing with the Calculator, is there any reason that one inch equals 25.399999999999988 mm? I know it's not far off, but I believe one inch is exactly 25.4mm Henrik |

| Excellent Henrik. Rounding errors are the bane of these things. I corrected it in the latest release, but I'll bet there are some more like it. At some point, I'll hold an Easter Egg Hunt to find bugs in G-Wizard. It's a little too easy right now though! In an Easter Egg Hunt, you plant intentional bugs in a version of the software (it's important to either use a separate version or be able to switch off the planted bugs). Then you run the contest and people report all the bugs they find. The contest ends when all the Easter Eggs (planted bugs) are found, or after a set time interval has passed. Participants have no idea whether a bug they find was an Easter Egg or not. You will find not only the Easter Eggs, but a lot of real bugs along the way. The Easter Eggs are there to help developers to roughly gauge how thorough the testing is. Until all the Easter Eggs have been found, you're not at 100% At the end of the contest, you give prizes to those who found the most bugs, perhaps requiring them to have found at least one Easter Egg as well. Cheers, BW
