To my disappointment there was no option in the config program for a simple 2 axis machine (besides lathe which is not what i'm running). I have a plasma table i've converted over to cnc, but i was hoping someone could share there .ini and hal file so i can get an idea of what i need in there to make this work right. All i need is the simple 2-axis movement. Thanks in advance |

| Assuming You are going with a step/direction kind of drive ( either stepper or servo ) in the config wizard where You assign paralel port pin outs simply click on the third axis dropdown list and deselect it or assign the pin to some other function compatible with your break out board. The wizard will configure the ini and hal files according to the settings You select. Otherwise just ignore the third axis output pins and only use the two you need . |

| I guess i didn't think it would be as easy as just not assigning the Z axis to any pins, thats great if its that easy. It just threw me because at the beginning of the config wizard there is no option for just XY, and i thought that the selection there had more bearing on what the config would turn out like. But i guess if all that first selection is, is a template to start from them it all makes sense. Friday i'll have to try it out and see where i get. I'm might even just leave the z axis alone as it seems to be working fine with it there, its not causing any issues so i might just leave it as-is. Tonight was the first time i actually got both axis working, i taped a marker to the plasma tip and ran some of the example programs and it seems to be working perfect. The main problem i'm having is that sometimes after i power down my drives, they loose there config, and i have to load up windows so i can use the windows only based tuning program to get them working right again, but thats not anything with emc2 just a really annoyance with Leadshine drivers... I think i'm going to try some gecko's in the end. thanks for the help |
