Hi, For my University project, I need to do data acquisition from a milling machine from sensors that I have on the machine. But at the same time I would like to use the EMC2 software to control this milling machine. The data acquisition board I am using is a National Instruments PCI-6259. As there are no drivers supplied from National Instruments for this board on the Ubuntu platform, I am using Comedi for the data acquisition from the board. But I have run into problems which involve not being able to run both the EMC2 software and the comedi driver at the same time. Why can't these software run together and how could I make them work together? Has anyone been able to overcome this problem? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! |

| Well if you write a comedi driver for EMC then you could do it! I know that the original Classicladder can interface with comedi drivers though I know nothing about how that works. Classicladder for EMC (at this time) does not include this feature. You didn't say if the data from comedi needed to control the movement or vice versa, if not you could use two computers one for EMC one for comedi. The probable reason they won't work together is (I think) comedi is a realtime program and EMC is definitely realtime. |
