hi, i cannot seem to get anything but a steady 5v output from the pin which is supposed to be my pwmgen pin out0 (pwm or up) (output). I've tried changing the rpm in Axis in mdi and manual mode, with no change in the voltage or amperage. can you tell me if i have something wrong in my hal? this is the name and parameters that i have: setp hm2_[HOSTMOT2](BOARD).0.pwmgen.pdm_frequency 5000 setp hm2_[HOSTMOT2](BOARD).0.pwmgen.00.scale 3800 setp hm2_[HOSTMOT2](BOARD).0.pwmgen.00.output-type 3 net Spindle-rpm-cmd motion.spindle-speed-out => hm2_[HOSTMOT2](BOARD).0.pwmgen.00.value should i be seeing a change? sorry if this is a dumb question, i'm completely new to this. |

5V most likely means the pin is an input which either means you did not enable the PWM gens in the loadrt hm2_pci line or you are looking at the wrong pin (or the watchdog has bitten setting all I/O to input mode) If this is the new config file I made, PWM 0 is not on the stepgen output connector, pwm2 and pwm 3 are. BTW for driving a opto for PWM to analog conversion, PWM (at 5000 hz) is probably a better choice |

| Alan PDM frequency is pulse density modulation base frequency. Daniel: I would check the watchdog as Peter said. I had a real problem with getting the watchdog not to bite - I had to set the pet_watchdog close to where I loaded the hostmot2 firmware (this was in a stand alone HAL file mind you) can you check to see the spindle-rpm-cmd signal is changing? |

| i'm a dumbass... i had the 50 pin cable in p3, not p2. i havent tried it yet after i figured that out, but i'm sure that didnt help lol Pcw, i was unable to load your bit file. it seemed to load ok with the bfload command, but when i start emc2, i get an error stating that it cannot be found. i'm pretty sure it's something i'm doing wrong, but i cant figure it out and i had work to do, so i switched back to the original bit file. BTW, i found that i dont think the vfd is going to cut it for me. I tried taking a cut with a 3/8" endmill, and it stalled the spindle. apparently i need the torque of the sailsbury drive, so i gotta try and set up that servo or stepper motor that drives it. So PWM instead of PDW? |
