Hi all, I've nearly finished my MDF cnc and am waiting on the motors/electronics now. While im waiting i've been looking at using EMC and qcad with dxf2gcode in between. I now have a query about this setup. Is qcad capable of producing a dxf with depth information within it so i can cut a resess without penetrating through wood being cut, and still have full through holes cut as well? Many thanks Barry |

| There is also HeeksCAD which can import the DXF and with HeeksCNC you can generate the gcode. All doable in linux (windows version as well). I am pretty sure you can do 2.5 with HeeksCAD HeeksCAD and HeeksCNC are both in the google code pages. BMG |

also can try http://www.gsimple.eu/index.html it takes a little getting use to and works better on metric stuff but I have used it before. Also can do engraving of text. Gsimple is not the best with 3D parts. I believe it only works with dxf files. HeeksCAD and HeeksCNC sounds interesting and I will definitely check them out. |
