| I never use linux before. I planning to use EMC, i have download the cd image and burn it. after booting, it not go to desktop window, it appear like command prompt. what should i do then to start emc program? enlight me |

| In linux the system can run with or without a desktop depending on the run level called in the startup. What's most likely happening is the system was unable to start the desktop and is remaining at a non-desktop run level. For this type of help the best place to ask is ubuntuforums.org. That's not to say no help will be offered here, just that there are better places for this question. In particular the graphics hardware and the amount of ram.
