Angry Back to square one...

It's very late, I just got back from Hockey so I'm very tired. I am going to edit this post tomorrow.

Here is my original post back in November http://www.cnczone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=68155

Changes: New Dell Optiplex, Upgraded Gecko540 to Rev4 BOB, Power Supply was tested the other day reading almost 60 volts. Volts were lowered to 47.3 ish.

End result with new changes? Almost the exact same problems as in November. Same exact exact exact problems.

Latency on Dell is a 25 Us. Not good, I cannot access the BIOS. So I need to access the BIOS first, see if I can turn anything off and see what my latency is after.

In EMC2 I disabled tool path and show program.

Mechanical issues? No, do not think so. It responded basically the same way as it it did the past few months. And there is no way it will continue to mess up in the same spot over and over through a z-axis mechanical failure. There are lost steps in the Z-axis somewhere.

After all my Stepconf timings were set in accordance with my Latency. My INI file still gave me a 65200 Us BASE PERIOD. Not good! I need to get my Latency down.

Next things to try, run my same program on 50% scale. See if a smaller file helps.

1. Get new Parallel cable
2. Buy a new Video Card (Please help here, ATI ? What works well with Dell Op)
3. Maybe buy a Parallel 5 VOLT PCI card. (To ensure I get true 5 volts)
4. A 50 caliber machine gun and shred my entire machine apart.

Any suggestions?

-Jason

Your link didn't work, took me to the second page of MY "User CP"

Your costantly losing steps on the z in the same place? Same physical location? Or same place among various programs?

What program are you using to generate your 3D Gcode? You've eliminated everything except the motors and wiring to the motors by now. Is that it? Have you replaced the cable to the Z axis with a shielded (grounded on one side only) new one? You've changed so much, the very few possibilities left are motor, cables, machine itself, or the code is bad. I'd ask someone to run the code on their machine and see what happens. If it is bad code, and the program sounds huge, it'd be buried.

Buy me a Beer?

You've never tried different control software have you? Give Mach3 a try.

Good suggestion.

Linkydink that may help solve your problems or at least give you an alternative for testing.

I know you hate this suggestion, but ease up just a bit and give it a whirl. At this point, what have you got to loose?

I also vote for trying the Mach3. But if you DO decide to blow up machine with .50 Cal---That sounds like fun!

I will try Mach. But Mach trial version is only what? 500 lines? I won't even be able to tell if it's work right or not

I have to reinstall XP on the computer and I don't have internet access there, So I will need to do thris through a flash drive or or cd. But I'm not sure how I'm going to do this.

My code is being generated by CUT3D.

All my motor wires are shielded. I have not replaced the z-axis wiring, but think I will give it a whirl.

Cany anyone suggest the best way to install XP back on the comp? I have access to school downloading and can get XP.

Are your shielded cables only grounded at the source (controller) end?

Mach3 is $160. How much have you spent trying to make EMC2 work?

I know nothing about EMC, but it looks like you have it narrowed down to EMC??

My shielded wire is hooked up to my connector that plugs into the g540 and runs through my enclosure to my Stepper motors where about 6-10 inches of wiring from the stepper is not shielded.

I spent 160.00 on the new computer alone. 17.00 on a video card that didn't work ( I should have gotten a better one) I still have not tried a new video card....

I have narrowed it down to EMC2/ Computer. I need first access my Bios settings and try a new card. I have to try before I try Mach.

The usual keystrokes to get into bios is Escape or delete or F1.
When first starting, look at the bottom of the load screen. It should tell you right there what key to push to get into Bios or Setup.

It's F2. But the keyboard does not seem to boot in time for the Bios. It's so stupid, I'll try delete and escape. But right after the page loads, the keyboard seems to boot up...

See, things like this piss me off because everything seems to go south.
