| Hi, I am using EMC2 to control my milling machine but need a lot of things to control. I have already run out of my second LPT port pins and realized that I will not have access to the third one :-)) I found a few I/O boards on the web with many I/O signals that would do the job. The only thing is that I have not found any drivers for these boards for Linux and EMC2. One of these is: http://po.labs.googlepages.com/pokeys55 This thing has driver for Linux but nothing for EMC (nor driver nor hal) Does anyone have experience in this thing? If so what would you suggest to use? Thanks, Adam |

| I would likely go with this http://www.mesanet.com/pdf/parallel/5i20ds.pdf. Gives you 72 pins and access to a lot of driver cards for real servos (not step/dir) and more. Seems to be well supported by EMC. |

| I do not know EMC2 software. PoKeys55 is USB HID device which is supported by almost all operating systems. If you are using it as inputs, you can emulate keyboard, joystick or you can runn macros from it. If you need it as output, your software (EMC2) should support external software calls. If you can send me some contact for EMC2 developers, we can provide all documentations for direct support. regards Boris

| infor about EMC2: http://www.linuxcnc.org/ EMC2 wiki: http://wiki.linuxcnc.org/cgi-bin/emcinfo.pl developers can be contacted on their mailing list: https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/...emc-developers for using Pokeys inputs try using hal_input: man page: http://www.linuxcnc.org/docs/2.4/htm...l_input.1.html wiki pages for using hal_input http://wiki.linuxcnc.org/cgi-bin/emc...Remote_Pendant http://wiki.linuxcnc.org/cgi-bin/emc...pads_With_EMC2 Hidcomp surely could control inputs and outputs of Pokeys. Hidcomp is not part of EMC but was made for it. its a little more complicated. (but more powerful) http://hidcomp.sourceforge.net/#hidcompcontrols Chris M Last edited by chester88; 07-13-2010 at 03:36 AM. |
