EMC Backlash compensation

I own a Taig Mill, I would like too know where I can plug the backlash into EMC for compensation?

Anyone?

The backlash settings are found in the ini file under each individual axis, AXIS_0, AXIS_1, etc.

The backlash lines may not appear in a stepconf generated ini file. Should be okay to edit them in afaik. Look at the generic stepper_inch.ini file for an example of where to add these lines.

This is way overdue but, if the Backlash does not appear in the ini file. Can I simply put it in manually?

Ex:

MAX_VELOCITY = 1.2
=
MAX_ACCELERATION
=
BACKLASH
= 0.003

Should I then be ok?

Yes, that's exactly how to do it. I had to add my own backlash settings a few weeks ago when I switched to EMC.

The backlash settings, or EMC in general? The backlash is fine, EMC's compensation works well. I had an early problem with it, but I'd caused it myself by messing with the setup and setting the axis' acceleration slower than allowed.
EMC2 works fine as well, I'm a lot happier with it than I was with the windows-based program I was using previously. It's been well worth the format and installation of Linux, in my opinion.

Just a bit of info on using Backlash here

http://www.linuxcnc.org/docs/devel/h...nfig.html#sub:[AXIS]-section

If you get following errors read the backlash section of the above link for the 2.3 docs

Wow the backlash compensation worked so easily and nicely! Very impressed and very happy that I have finally input the code into the file. Very happy.
