Need Help!- Home search velocity

Looking for practical advice on what to set the home search velocity to?

How is the homing repeatability affected by homing seek and search velocities?

Any opinion ( excluding price of tea in China welcome )

Zig,

I have my HOME_SEARCH_VEL set at 45ipm (0.75 ips) and the HOME_LATCH_VEL set at -15ipm (-0.25 ips).

I seem to get fairly accurate repeats (when I stop cutting a part because something goes wrong, I can home the machine and start cutting again without being able to tell the difference in the cuts and I am just using roller micro-switches from Radio Shack.

Thanks for Your response.

My setup is somewhat different. I use an index pulse through a monostable ( pulse stretcher ) to simulate the closure of a mechanical switch.

No problems on two of the three axes; X axis seems to be behaving a bit erratically.

I have my settings on 30 mm/ sec and 0.5 mm/sec respectively.
This last figure is an order of magnitude slower than Your happy setting; I would have thought it would have been OK.
