I have EMC 2.2.2 downloaded and installed. I have browsed the program a little and printed the user manual out. I was attempting to access the steps seen in chapter 3.2 - configuration selector but I can not find the My configurations options? We can get to a window that is titled EMC2 configuration selector but there is no my configurations then my mill options, which the rest of the chapter seems to be based on. Am i just retarded??? |

| Hello Derek, A newb to newb... my sympathies. Now for help. First of all if you have access to internet hook up you linux machine and update EMC2.2.2 to EMC 2.2.4 Having done that You wll have elminated some of the bugs in the config set up utility. I am assuming you are using Ubuntu based distribution so on the menu bar top left hand corner you will see "Applications " drop down label. Click on "Applications", find "CNC" sub menu in which you will find "EMC2", "EMC2 G-Code Quick Refference", "EMC2 Integrator manual", "EMC2 Stepconf Wizard" and "EMC2 User Manual" Click on the wizard and that will get you into config utility. Here You can create a new configuration which is going to be in your Home subdirectory ( accessed via drop down menu "Places"). If you wish you can copy a sample config file when starting EMC2 and it will bw copied to .home/ emc2/configs/ Hope this helps and apologies if this is too basic; I know I need help at this level few months ago ( and STILL DO). |

| Derek, If you want to update offline, use this URL. Look for emc2_2.2.4_i386.deb http://www.linuxcnc.org/emc2/dists/d...2/binary-i386/ My shop machine is not connected to the internet so I download the file, put it on a thumbdrive and take it out to the shop to upgrade. If your machine is connected to the internet, just use the upgrade function. You can read on the linuxcnc wiki how to do it. Alan
