New EMC2 Release

Just saw this on the listserver email and I just loaded 2.2.1 last night. Guess I will scrap that one and reload :>

I'm pleased to announce the next bugfix release of the EMC 2.2 series,
version 2.2.2. This version fixes many user-reported problems.

The new packages are now available in the package repository. If you
already installed 2.2.0 or 2.2.1, this is available as an update. If
you are still using 2.1.7 but want to upgrade, instructions are here:

CVS users can get this release by checking out the RELEASE_2_2_2 tag.
Tarballs will be available on sourceforge.net within the next 24 hours.

Cool huh?

If your machine is on the internet - you can just go into the update manager and it will show up as an emc2 2.2.2 update.

Although if you just downloaded the 2.2.1 live cd - there was a small mistake in the repository for emc2. You need to go into the synaptic package manager. Next go to the menu item settings>repositories. Scroll down to the 2 emc enteries. you need to edit each one to say 2.2 instead of 2.1.

now when you go into the update manager - hit Check button - and the 2.2.2 should show up as an update.

this will be fixed in the next live cd which will be out in a few days.

how do you tell what version of emc you are running? Seems like you run it from the command line, but I don't remember

yes - if you open a terminal and type emc - it will show the version as it is loading.

Otherwise

also in termial you can type

dpkg -l emc2

I am sure there are other ways.. (I am still a linux newbie)
