EMC is running under Linux, or you boot directly from the CD. Win XP is not involved.

How do you plan to use emc? The software will not install on xp, or at least not without a virtual machine afaik. In any case, if the plan is to run motors, a true linux install is the only sane way. If you just want to run the software in simulation mode the live cd will do this without touching the existing xp.

emc2 is 668 mb data. it is so huge for downloading in pakistan. i have dialup connection for net.
how can i get cd with linux?

Try to ask at the IRC channel or the EMC mailing list.
PM your address or post it here and I'll ask if someone can make a CD for you.

But forget XP, or Windows in any case. EMC is running on Linux.

Shabbir PM'ed his address to me. The disk is packed and ready to mail. Any hints on filling out the customs label?

I'm thinking of listing the contents as "free software" and checking off either the "sample" or "gift" box.

Are you running EMC? What do you think of it? I just browsed the CD version the other day and don't know what to think. I've tried Mach3 and TurboCNC, but have some objections to both of those.

Maybe someone else can post an objective view. I'm an open source fanatic and won't pretend otherwise.

TurboCNC. Never tried it.

Mach. Couldn't get it to play nice with my hardware. Large user base. Nice add-ons. The pdfs and instructional videos are first rate +.

Emc. User base is a bit of an unknown. The developers and core users make this one of the best open source projects going. Documentation is sketchy compared to mach but help is readily available. A very good gcode interpretor imho.
