He has written a pc/dos based DRO driver/display and source code is available.
(don't know if porting it to Linux would be easy)

I am looking for software that will convert an old pc to a dro. I would like to use encoders but I would be open to anything as I have not build anything yet. Does anyone know if there is any software out there? Has anyone on here used any of this software? Thank you for your help.

Hi!
Saw the post on my server log, so I'm jumping in.
I'm Nick Müller, the "inventor" of YADRO.
Just a few things:
The source that is available is just for the macros (the display is driven by an macro-engine).
Regarding Linux:
I'm typing this on my Linux-box. :-)
There is a GUI-version for Windows under development by someone else. Can't say when it is finished. But I can say that it is running under Wine (we fixed some problems just a few days ago).
Also, I started developing a GUI-version of the display software with wxWidgets and intend to get it running under Linux, but priority is WIndows. Can't and won't make any promisses for a shipping date.
The current DOS-version doesn't run under Linux (and won't) because of direct hardware-acces for the serial connection.
HTH,
Nick
Where can I get the windows version? Any beta versions? I also have windows to work with. Thank you
I'm sorry, but I think it is best to wait a bit. I don't want to push the gent do finish his version. Anyhow, it is a mill-only.
I suggest that you subscribe to the YADRO-newsletter (http://www.yadro.de/dro/newsletter.html) to get informed.
Hope that is OK for you!
Nick
