If you have a barebone system, get the BDI-Emc, it is a brain dead install, loads everything for you, all you have to do is modify the INI file to specs of your machine, ie: step direction pins, turns per inch/mm, you can reverse motor direction depending on which side your motors are installed on, and so on, I used the Generic.ini file, and the emc not for the sherline machine.

they even have a mirc channel if you need help, it really is simple to setup, and it also comes with a linux cadd program and other cnc software to use.

Xandros is a successor to Corel LINUX OS that combines Debian and KDE.

BDI-EMC is the debian with KDE and other user interface you choose and it will also work in dual boot system, I have it loaded on a Windows xp machine. Emc can be compiled on any linux system as far as i know.

Downloading EMC

Where can I get Emc? Also do you know where I can get instructions to install this software. I know nothing about Linux or Xandros.
