| emc doesn't do any cam, its the machine controller. I did have a problem with EMC2 reading the CAM output from SolidCAM initially but I just had to edit the postprocessor a bit and it seems to be working correctly (it was a simple, didn't understand a type of g-code and just replaced that g-word with another). As a machine controller it was very easy to set up for me. I used Mach3 initially, but once I wanted to go beyond the trial version, I decided to go to EMC2 since I was not as invested monetarily as I was with SolidCam and Solidworks. It was an easy transition as it is still GUI based like Mach3 and has a start up wizard. |
