Do you mean you want to use the hand wheels from a conventional lathe?
Or are you wanting to add electronic hand wheels (MPG) to the lathe?
Adding a MPG is relativity easy.
Hi ,
I want to control my lathe with EMC and servomotors and a uhu servodriver .
The lathe has two handwheels build in , does someone knows in what kind of way this is possible to use the handwheels for convetionell turning , what HAL file I need ?
Many thanks for your help
Hans

Hi Chester88 ,
I mean two electronic handwheels .
Hans
setting quadrature encoder wheels is straightforward in emc , but this depends to some extent on spare connections you have available , you will need 2 input pins at a minimum for A & B per wheel . see the axis jog hal commands .
you dont say if your using a parrell port or mesa card for input i/o
i'm not aware the uhu servodrive is compatable with EMC
Hi ,
I am using a pc with two parallelports , the UHU need step and direction signals
like a stepperdriver .
Hans
ok set up as per this link for each axis , should do the trick
LinuxCNC.org - MPG Example
if you set up in custom hal it will not be over written if you use stepconf
set the pins approprately of course
i presume your encoder wheels are quadrature
