EMC and Mesa

Hi,
It's possible to use the Mesa 5i20 out of the Pc in a extra box ? With a converter Pci-e to Pci or is there a better way ? I think it's easier for wiring the 5i20 and daughter boards and the connectors for servodrive , encoder and i/o's .
Many thanks for every answer

Hans

Its possible but a little awkward mechanically with a PCI card. If you want all the I/O out of the box there are several options with different prices and capabilities. Here are a few options

1. You can use a 3X20/7I68 externally and a 5I71 or 6I71 PCIE extender in the PC box. This is expensive (~$600) but has 144 I/O points and a large FPGA

2 You can use a 4I73 with stacked 4I65/4I68/4I69 FPGA card and again a 5I71 or 6I71 cabled PCIE extender (this is a little less expensive ~$400)

3. You could use a 5I25 plus 7I77 (This is the cheapest for a up to 6 channel servo interface ~$250 but the 7I77 is not quite available yet)

4. Wait for the 7I80-CBB external PCIE FPGA card (also cheap and works with standard 50 pin daughtercards)

It should work with nothing more than a 1 line patch to change the subsystem ID, hardware wise (register level) its identical to all of our cards
