Hi I am testing out emc for my retro fitted laser cutter. I have everything set up but am still learning how to use EMC. I have converted vector files in inkscape to g code which works well. In EMC the files look perfect but cut far too slowly for a laser. I have tried changing the maximum feed rate for the machine which shows in the feed override control, but the cut still remains at the same speed. I have increased the feed rate in the g code as well I am wondering if I am missing something, or another place to change the parameters? Also when I cut, I need the cutting speed to be constant for the laser to cut effectively. At the moment it seems to vary, speeding up on the long straight cuts and slowing down on the curves. I am very new to emc so dont know what all the terms mean yet

| Have you run stepconfig (menu>emc>stepconfig)? This is where basic parameters for the machine are set. It could very well be the current maximum has its roots there.

| ok thanks I missed that, Ive been editing the text file directly I had a play and I think I had the acceleration set too low so the feedrate wasnt reaching the correct level until well towards the end of a cut The steppers didnt have a chance to accelerate as they were travelling around curves. So now I think I am back on track
