Configuring EMC2 for MAXNC T2

Anyone out there use EMC2 with a MAXNC T2 lathe?

I'm a CNC idiot, this is my first cnc tool.

According to a different forum it uses Quadrature encoding which I'm having difficulty working out the config.

This thread discusses the pinout but is specific for MACH
Setting up MaxNC T2

Any help is appreciated.

EMC can output quadrature signals from the parallel port.
Its an uncommon mode (type two).

If I attempt to modify the sherline config and insert

loadrt stepgen step_type=2,2

It errors out trying to load the module

Debug file information:
insmod: error inserting '/usr/realtime-2.6.32-122-rtai/modules/emc2/stepgen.ko': -1 File exists
standard_pinout.hal:7: exit value: 1
standard_pinout.hal:7: insmod failed, returned -1

If I run the EMC wizard and hash out a basic config then modify that line (0,0 to 2,2) it errors out saying

Debug file information:
maxnc-t2.hal:52: parameter or pin 'stepgen.0.stepspace' not found

I'm not exactly why the 2 files error out differently.
