I have a small Dell Optiplex GX620 that is getting retarded high jitter in the test on the "Servo Thread".... like 350,000. I have read that this a somewhat common problem but the instructions to implement the SMI fix are frankly terrible that I have found thus far. Relative path names with no indication of what to do. Makefiles listed out with no indication of what to do other than 'use this makefile'. Creating a Makefile with that yields errors on running make. I have no idea what to do and that wiki page doesn't help me at all.
Is there a pre-compiled module to download. Decent instructions anywhere to to get it loaded?
This is one reason I gave up Linux in so many other areas. Confusing and outdated documentation. I wanted to give disabling SMI a try if I can but at present I may just forget it and try Mach3. I like the EMC interface much better but I really don't want to spend the next few weeks trying to just figure out how to beat it into submission. My scope says I was getting a pulse train but even really low rates were showing tons of jitter on the scope too, never appearing as a stable train of pulses Every 3rd or 4th pulse would show a substantial delay.
