Running Native DLL Under Wine | | Sorry this is not a strictly EMC question, more a Linux question, but I couldn't find a better spot.
I am running a Dynamotion Kflop for my next build and would like to do so purely within Ubuntu. I have the Dynamotion software setup and running using Wine, not an issue.
The issue is getting USB support for the card so the software can detect the card. In windows this is done by installing the USB driver, using DLL files. As you can imagine Ubuntu won't work this way.
I have tried to use library overrides in Wine config and copy the DLL's to the windows32 directory created by Wine but as the DLL's are not generic I just typed the names in and configured them to be run as native. This is still not working, though in the windows USB folder there are several other filetypes as well as DLL, I am not sure if they have to be added somehow.
I have proven the hardware is compatible by running a virtual XP machine on the same PC with virtualbox (awesome software!) and it detects the card without any problems. Call me crazy but I would like to get it working without needing the XP install.
As far as I know, the Kflop drivers can use a virtual com port, but I have no idea on how to do this.
Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers.
