Question Setting up CNC4PC C3 Index Pulse

I'm trying to set up a spindle rev counter/index pulse on my Sherline lathe, but I can't figure out the setup. I can see the pin going high and low in EMC's HAL meter, but that's as far as I've gotten. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    -Vernon

I just can't get EMC to do anything about the spindle index pulse. It shows up in the HAL meter under spindle-index, flipping between FALSE and TRUE, but the example program "threading.ngc" just hangs at the g33 command.

Is it even possible to thread with a single-pulse-per-rev encoder in EMC? I've found instances of people doing it with other software, but all of the EMC documentation seems to insist on a 100-count encoder, as well.

Progress! "Andypugh" on the IRC help channel for EMC has been a LOT of help... it's actually moving with the index pulse now, although I can see where a second encoder with more pulses would greatly improve accuracy.
Still, after weeks of frustration and no answers, I'm finally getting somewhere.

Well, it works. The Sample threading program that comes with EMC was pretty rough, but by matching the spindle speed and feedrate I was able to get good performance out of it.
Here's a (long, boring) video of my first singlepoint threadcutting with this lathe.

    Index Pulse

    Hi

Glad you got your problem fixed.

I have also had problems getting RPM displayed and doing anything that relies on the index pulse to work, because I can't seem to get EMC to see it properly.

Likewise I can see it switch from TRUE to FALSE in the hal meter, so it is there but not connected properly somehow

Can you share what you needed to do, a copy of your .hal and .ini would be great.

    regards
