Hi All,

So I have been playing around with linuxcnc for a few months and thought that I should connect my spindle to get the maximum control from it.

Unfortunately the information I have found is minimal. While the wiki has some good basic information there are several definitions that are lacking, for instance what is the difference between Spindle On, Spindle CW, Spindle CCW and Spindle PWM in the parallel port section of the step config menu.

If any one has a good definition I am keen to here them.

My main problem is that I just cant work out what I need to do to control the spindle. Below is an overview of what I have and what I want.

VFD -
AskPower A131: Manual

BoB -
Standard ebay 5 axis BoB: Manual
Pin setout: Diagram

Now I have connected the VFD to the BoB as per the below connections:

VFD BoB BoB Pin
12V Out 12V-24V Power Supply N/A
10V In 0-10V Spindle Speed Output P21
FWD Spindle ON/OFF P23
GND Other terminal of:
12V-24V Power Supply
0-10V Spindle Speed Output
Spindle ON/OFF		 N/A

I have also changed the VFD settings to those specified in the manual:
Pn03 = 4
Pn04 = 2


If anyone can tell me which pins I need to specify in the step config, or if I have made any mistakes in what I have done so far, it would be greatly appreciated.
