Yes, you can run this kit with Step/Dir in LinuxCNC.
It is the most used setup and is very easy to setup, use the Stepconf wizard and the Wiki documentation and you are up and running in no time.

G'Day Folks,
My name is Mike and I am a newbe to CNC routing. I live in Australia and this is my first post about my first machine.
I just got this kit:
Electronics Kit 4.3 OR CNC Router Electronics Kit 4.3 - 3 Axis 417oz / Hobby CNC Australia
My question is - Will this electronics kit, which seems to be setup for Mach3, run on linuxcnc (EMC)? I have linux ubuntu and linuxcnc setup on my desktop but do I need to return it to Windows 7 to suit this kit? Anything you can add would help a lot please?
Mike

Thank you. Now I know where to start. Mike
That's one hell of a good deal. The Chinese can't sell it cheaper.
And, Bob is a very nice helpful bloke. He takes the time to write long emails to help out. Mike
I want to add it is a great kit for Australians but the shipping cost overseas would kill the benefits.
Hi Mike,
The steppers in that kit really need around 96VDC to run at full speed and torque, so with a 36VDC PSU, you'll need to lower the feed and rapid rates so the really high inductance doesn't kill the torque. The way to work out what rating PSU is needed is ((square root of the inductance) times 32).
Apart from that, very good pricing on the kit, especially as it's much more complete than most you see.
cheers, Ian
It's a state of mind!
