GMT Ballscrews + Poll: Double vs. Single Nuts

We'll be introducing a line of rolled ballscrews in the near future as well as other linear motion components.

The ballscrews will be rated C7, and will be polished for smooth motion. The ballnuts are sealed with internal return tubes. They will be available in 20mm (12, 18, 24, and 36" lengths) and 25mm (48, 60, and 72" lengths).

The ends will be pre-machined to fit BK/BF and FK/FF style support blocks with 15mm and 17mm ID 72XX and 62XX bearings (which we will also offer).

For ease of installation, we'll have zero-backlash double ballnuts available for the same price or less than what one would normally pay for two single ballnuts (in the $100-$140 range). Would anyone here still be interested in single ballnuts?

Are you not asking the wrong question to get a market potential difference between single and double nuts if both are zero backlash? The physical size of the unit - in service life - backlash control with service life - ridgidity - inherent accuracy - are all factors that have to be reconciled with cost when purchasing ball nuts.

Your straw poll has a statistical skew as it mixes the retro / repair market and the new design demand.

You gotta love the way the orange plugs on the ballnuts are color coordinated with the Glacern logo!

I too will be curious when they are available to check them out. Need to set my lathe up on ballscrews one of these days.
