Help with racking

Hey I'm building a large XYZ router with 400 oz in Xylotex motors.

Two motors will drive the main gantry, but in order to keep them tied together it's apparent some kind of belt system is needed so they can't move independently. Can someone please help me find some (hopefully economical) belt parts to fix on to the 1/2" 5 start 10 TPI shaft to keep them in sync?

Thanks.

Just a thought

In Mach3 (and I suspect other progs as well) it is possible to connect two steppers to drive the X-axes. Connect the first stepper to the normal X-axis output and the second to the A-output. Then you configure the prog to drive A as a slave to the X-axes. This way you wont have to use any belts or anything, the program will take care of driving both steppers in sync and your problem is solved.

Good luck with your project!

You can connect two drivers and motors to the same terminals of a optically isolated break out board

they are connected and configured as slave axis. But they will still lose steps individually, I'm looking to lock them together mechanically because even though I plan on installing encoders onto them, that won't lock them together it will only stop the machine if they go out of sync.

Buy me a Beer?

Why not just run it slower so it doesn't lose steps? Even if they are linked together mechanically, they'll still lose steps and mess up your parts.
