I have a 60" acme screw that is going to run one of my axis. Being that it is only 1/2" in diameter I know that I am going to have to run the machine a bit slower or design it to turn the nut instead of the screw to prevent whip. Where are the designs and parts list for making a setup that turns the nut instead of the screw? Also my screw is made of steel and I have 2 different nut options (plastic and bronze) Which one of these should I go with? I do not want to wear out the screw as the nuts are much cheaper to replace so I was thinking of using the plastic nuts. What do you guys think and what do you lube acme thread with? |
