recommended x axis system for 8' x 4' cnc cutting mdf

Hi, I am about to design my first cnc, can anybody advise me of the best way to construct the x axis motion? i have been looking at hiwin slides and ball screws but not sure about the lenght? also seen that some use rack and pinion, is this accurate?
    Thanks Andy

Mechmate uses rack and pinion. www.mechmate.com

The Best way could be different things to different people. Ballscrews get very expensive at longer lengths and larger diameters. Rack and pinion can be accurate, and is much less expensive than ballscrews. Also easier to keep clean than ballscrews.
