Anybody pl help me with the difference between BACKLASH & PITCH ERROR COMPENSATION.
Not sure why no answer from other people yet. Very easy question.
Backlash compensation corrects for the loosness in the feed when reversing direction. Like when you have moved to the right and then have to turn the leadscrew a small amount to the left before any actual left movement takes place.
Pitch Error corrects for the inaccuracy of the leadscrew. Say you have a leadscrew that says it's 10 TPI and yet it is actually 10.0014 TPI you would have an error of .014 in a 10 inch movement.
Hope that helps
