I am converting a Grizzly G0602 mini-lathe to CNC and looking for some advice on ballscrews. I have a RF-31 mill/drill which I converted to CNC several years ago and used Rockford ballscrews with double ballnuts. Althougth everything works well, I have never been able to get the backlash below .003-.004". On the mill I did all the machining, etc. For the lathe, in the interest of my time, I as considering having the ballscrews machined and getting premade end supports. I came across homeshopcnc.com's site and all looks good on paper. Would like to hear from someone who is using their products. Searching the forum I came across some threads that were not so positive and some quite positive. Some threads recommended MiSumiusa.com as an alternative (lower prices). Any input as to how they compare in quality. Open to all suggestions as to best sources, etc. Goal is to be capable of turning X and Z axis to less than .001" tolerance.
