Retro-fitting Denford Veicroy X-slide with ball screw??

I have a Denford Viceroy TDS1/1 with a worn cross slide acme nut. i would like to fit a ball screw as part of a CNC retro-fit. Here is a picture of the X slide in pieces.



The acme screw is 1/2" diameter with a 0.1" pitch. It includes a gear for cross feed.

I am seeking advice on the best and reasonably economic method of fitting a ball screw. The first question is what diameter screw would be appropriate. I could probably fit up to 3/4" max not including the nut.

Is there a reliable seller of good used ball screws?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

My main concern is the lack of space down the "tunnel" where the cross slide acme screw goes. I don't thin there will be room for the nut. I was wondering if the ball screw nut could be mounted in the far side of the cross slide.
