Is this a soft problem or mechanical? I'm thinking hysteresis or something along those lines. This ever happen to anyone else?
It's been going on for months but we're a small company and tech fees would be through the roof. |
In CNC, your use of the term hysteresis is known as backlash. I assume you are talking about when the machine switches directions and the amount of distance the screw must travel before it 'picks up' the table again.
The backlash wont show up if you are traveling in only one direction, and then measuring. If you have error while traveling in only one direction then it's probably due to error in your leadscrew, ballscrew or whatver is used.
The rigidity and alignment of the machine construction will also have a play on the error too. A simple way to correct this would be with shims. |
