Lead Screws

Does anyone know the approximate cost of 8' lead screws with a pitch of approx 0.5" to 1" or there abouts?

I can imagine these things are a bit of a rip off but it would be good to get some figures.


And failing this does anyone have any links to a reliable pin and rack setups so I can investigate those please.

Roton has 1" 2 turns per inch @ $20.86\ft, 1" 1 turn per inch @ $23.94
McMaster.com has 1"-4 2 start, which is 2 turns per inch. but I don't see it listed any larger than 6'.
Maybe you could call them. The 6' piece @ mcmaster is $103.49

I'm sure there are a few more sources floating around on the forums here, maybe someone else will chime in.

The only place I can think of off the top of my head that ive seen is Marchant Dice aka www.worldofcnc.com
I don't see any lead screws close to what you're looking for their, but they do have Rack & Pinion, and Ballscrews.
I'm not sure of your application but if you look at Marchant Dice ballscrews, they have C5 and C7 Class(C5 is a bit higher precision/more costly) with 25mm dia/25mm lead.
Personally if I was going to do 8' length, I'd probably go with 32x10 Ballscrew.
