Would these be effective antibacklash nuts for a medium duty woodworking y axis (moving table) http://www.mcmaster.com/ part # 6350K192. Thanks! Need 5/8", and can't find another source. |

| They should work fine IF you can keep them clean. My experience with this "Self adjusting" style, is in cutting phenolics. Fine dust environment on an open Y axis screw would contaminate the nut, which caused the compensating end to grip the screw, tightening the nut and stall the servo in one direction. It just needs flushed out periodically with brake cleaner as these are dry run and oil creates a dust magnet for greater accumulation. They do not mention the limitations with high speed rapids on long runs either. No big deal on smaller machines, but our 4' of Y travel at around 200IPM sure generated a lot of heat in a short period. For the money, they are hard to beat and simple enough to replace. DC
