This can be difficult to answer. It can also be very hard to do. Yes it can be done, but first a few things to consider.

1. Can the nut be dissasembled? ,are the return circuits epoxied or glued?. If they are glued then it may be near impossible. If they are just metal tubes that are screwed to the nut then it's more feasable.

2. Now if you get it apart, measure the balls, sometimes it's not uncommon to have 2 sizes of balls in the same nut. The difference in sizes may be as little as .001". This is important, when the manufacturer made the screw, they alternated the 2 sizes. First a larger ball, then a smaller ball. This is done so the balls are less likely to jam up as they recirulate in the nut.

3. Examine the actual screw. Is it pitted? Is it worn (this may be hard to visualize, measuring is the only way). Does it feel tighter at the ends of travel, where the screw had less use? If any of these conditions are present, then maybe the screw is worn, in which case just changing out the balls is a waste of effort.

4. There are companies that can evaluate, and rebuild ballscrew. If you need a contact for ballscrew repair, post back here.

A picture of your ballscrew nut would really help. Off hand I would say very difficult to do. These plastic inserts have a specially formed track for the balls to ride in, If I can imagine the type of screw you have. Without a picture it's hard to say, but as a guess I would say unrepairable. Post a picture please, maybe I might see a solution.

Here are the pics of damaged plastic guidways/stopper inside ball nut... I am going to experiment for fabrication of same inserts and will see the results...If you have any alternate options to run my that ball screw..pls provide your valuable inputs...

It looks like the only way to repair those inserts is to try to make new ones. It looks like a difficult task. I wish you luck.
