| First of all I would like to say this is the most informative forum that I have ever belonged to, I would like to say to everyone here THANKS ! Because with out the people here contributing their time and experiances with homemade, hobby or even custom CNC machines I wouldnt be the only person here lost in the woods without a compass. Enough butt kissing now LOL. I work in a scrap metal yard in NY and I have come across enough parts to build my first machine, and it works well I might add, but now I am looking for anti backlash nuts for the lead screws I have, and finding it impossible to find anything close so I am turning to anyone here that may be able to help. My lead screws are 10 start Major .742 approx 3/4 Minor .626 approx 5/8 6 threads per inch ( if you count 1 - 6) some say the first thread is actually 0 so it would make it a 5 thread per inch it moves the gantry 2 full inches on 1 single revolution of the stepper motor. The leads are connected to the stepper by way of timing pulley and belt but the timing pulleys are the same exact size on the stepper and the lead screw. I hope that I have measured everything the right way, I talked to a guy fron roton.com and he said the biggest they had were 3/4 X 1.5 which is .5 to short and he said if I want the extra .5 I would have to go with a 1 inch lead screw. If anyone knows who or where I can get even regular nuts for what I have described above at least then I could make my own backlash nut design. Thanks for listening and thanks for all the information that I have obtained here. |

| tuffenuff, looks like you could use a new cover for your caliper..LOL yea, its hard to read the numbers on your caliper. How long is the screw you are using? did you look up the nuts from dumpster? p/n ABL12105 $22.50/ea. the acme screws from McMaster Carr? p/n 99030A704 1/2"-10 6' lg $55.77/ea. |

| You're going to need to find the manufacturer to get nuts for that. Nook makes sme similar metric screws, but not the same as yours. I've seen 1" 10 start, but with a 1" lead, and I haven't seen 3/4" 10 start screws.
