I'm looking for ground shafting for a customer's product. It needs to be 0.247 +0/-.001, 316 stainless. Any idea if there is a source for such material without going with a custom grinding order? I need about Q4 12" pieces. Thanks... |

| +/- .001 is not very precise. Why does it need to be ground? A good lathe with the proper tooling could easily deliver a very smooth, uniform finish cut. If you can get away with tool steel, try some letter D sized drill rod. It's .2460, +/- 5 tenths. Grab a couple and some of them will meet the required tolerances. |
