Hello, I'm looking for THK quality linear slides but really haven't found that many sources. I know you can pick them up on ebay, but i'm really looking for something a little more reliable then ebay. Really i'm looking for any brand that's of good quality, I was really leaning toward igus drylin T series till I read many many posting saying that the play is horrible and that they aren't that good. I realize these are frelon based as opposed to THK which are ball bearing based, or something to that nature, not really positive on that. I'm buidling a bigger machine and would like some quality slides. mcmaster.com of course has precision linear slides that I like, but they don't even say what brand, or label any real kind of tolerance data, and sizes are quite limited. smallparts.com actually does list THK slides in their parts list... but have no real details on any of it, i might be able to cross reference but it doesn't seem like the best sources for these. So any and all linear slide sources are appreciated. Or advice on different types of slides, I'm building my new machine out of aluminum extrusions. Thanks, Ross |

| Ross, THK is a quality line. You might also consider IKO's new crossed roller linear ways and slides. More expensive than the round rail type but much more rigid. You must check the specs but generally the new crossed roller linear way systems allow smaller units to be employed yet have higher capacity. I have no connection with any linear way supplier or dealer other than a "specifier". Dick Z

| Thanks everyone for their reply. I went ahead and ordered a sample HIWIN rail and block to see how they are. I went with Larry's suggestion of automation4less.com, prices seemed alright. 15mm HG series I ordered the rail: HGR15RxxxxH, 400mm flanged block: HGW15CCZ0H/ZZ I did notice after I ordered that ZZ means "end seal, bottom seal and scraper", but KK means "double seals, bottom seal and scraper". KK sounds better but it's the same price, so i'm trying to figure out the differences. Perhaps there is just more drag with 2 seals, and maybe one seal is better... granted i'm doubting that it would cause that much drag. Anyway, as long as the rail and block seem to be solid, i'm probably going to go ahead and order my rails from them, here's what i'm estimating so far: HiWin 15mm flange bearing block 12 $62.86 $754.32 HiWin 1800mm rail (~6 feet) 2 $199.22 $398.44 HiWin 1200mm rail (~4 feet) 2 $132.81 $265.62 HiWin 400mm rail (~16 inches) 2 $44.27 $88.54 So that would total at $1506.92, does that seem like a good price? And do you think these are good rails? Thanks, Ross |

| Ross, price is good.I priced for a 5'X10' router and Hiwin was about $2100 and THK's about 3500 and thk does not have long lengths making butt joints necessary. Larry

| I just received the sample slide I ordered and wow, I had no idea these would be this heavy duty. They ride real smooth though and have no play whatsoever, much nicer then any linear slides i've had before. I don't know if I really need this heavy or duty or not, maybe just for the X axis. Regardless, the other ones wouldn't even be that much cheaper, maybe 20% on only half the order, so I think i'll probably just get heavy duty all the way around, I would like to mill light aluminum... Igalla thanks for the automation4less link, they seem great. Now onto finding ballscrews ![]() Ross |

| The sample rail is 400mm $44 the slide is $62 with shipping it was around $110 i guess. I have the prices listed above, and it's from automation4less.com, which is also above. It's not technically a sample, I just ordered a rail and slide, but it was a sample for me to see the quality of the slide/rail. Ross |
