I will be very embarrassed if someone has posted this before. In my search for an antibacklash nut I noticed that some designs looked surprisingly like hose fittings. This design works only with 10mm or 3/8th leadscrew but will take only a couple of minutes to make. First thread the center of the hose fitting with a 10mm or 3/8th tap. Split fitting 4 ways. Install new slightly smaller oring as the ones supplied are only a neat fit and will not pull the sides in properly. If you make an AB nut out of both ends then put the oring of the unneeded one on the end of the threaded rod out of the way so that it does no work and when the first end wears out then bring the 2nd one into service. Hose Joiner $1.00 Orings $0.20 Simplicity $Priceless I realise that this is not as good as a Delrin AB nut but it is quick to make and paves the way for a replacement DumpsterCNC unit at a later date. I don't know what type of plastic the hose joiner is made of but preliminary tests show no signs of wear. Note hose fittings also come in Brass Any thoughts? |

| I am not experienced enough to comment on the AB aspect of this, but it seems like a neat idea. Just a quick comment on the O rings. They tend to not hold up very well under tension loads, so you might want to find something like a rubber band. Rats, there goes the budget idea. |

| Mine is a piece of 5/8" garden hose with nuts on either end held in place with hose clamps. A nylon spacer is in the middle, inside the hose an provides a solid surface to clamp the whole assemply to an arm or whatever to transfer motion. Can't use the hose anymore, though. RipperSoftware |
