    Question what bearing fit with acme screw 1/2 -10(for cheap ball screw)


    hello i'm new member live in quebec and i have starting to built a cnc
    with the same design at this adress

    Apex, you can use 1/2" radial ball bearings for ACME 1/2-10. You also want some sort of thrust bearings to keep the screw from moving laterally. Check out my website for a way to do this without machining the ends of the rod, www.cncrouterparts.com.     Are you talking about using ball bearings in the grooves of the ACME screw to make a ball screw? The balls would need to ride along both sides of the thread. The balls would have a third contact point on the top surface. Wouldn't this require something to slide as the balls roll?

    The balls roll with contact points at opposite sides in a true ball screw. There are no sliding surfaces.

    i want a bearing fit in 2 grooves at same time,
    the bearing turn and forward when the screw turn

    That sounds like an interesting idea. I still think there will be some sliding surfaces, but there might be less friction than a standard ACME bearing.
