Ball screw and Stepper Motor Size

I am retrofitting a 10x27 metal lathe into a turn/mill machine c/w 2HP VFD spindle. I am planning on using a 5/8" ball screw for the lead screw with a 600 oz-in (holding torque) stepper motor... I check the calcs on a mfr's website and this combination seems to be OK. Can anyone comment on their experience of whether this is the best combination!
