Heres the plan: 1/2 - 10 ACME PRESICION Threaded rod from Reid Tools. - https://reidecom.reidtool.com/xephr/...ID_PDF_DISPLAY -4140 hardened tool steel. -Model AR-23, 6' long rod. -$45.84 +2 of same thing, 3 foot lengths for X and Z axis. 1/2 - 10 ACME Threaded nut, from DumpsterCNC.com - http://www.dumpstercnc.com/leadnuts_acme.html - $15.00 each +2 of same thing, X and Z axis. 1/2 - 10 ACME Threaded shaft/motor coupler. - http://www.dumpstercnc.com/acme_couplers.html - $15.75 each +2 of same thing, three motors total. AND, the key components: (these will lock around the thrust/radial bearing setup as linked right after this). 1/2 - 10 ACME Thread Clamps - http://www.dumpstercnc.com/thread_clamps.html - $7.50 each Anti backlash system: http://www.cnczone.com/forums/showth...t=34704&page=2 to be supplied by Ahren: Bearing block, motor mounts, and part # for thrust & radial bearings. What do you think? edit: this is meant to be a fairly cheap gantry setup, my first machine ever. I just think it reasonable to gain fair accuracy out of the setup, within a couple thou or less backlash. 297oz steppers off of xylotex, prolly. Last edited by justCNCit; 05-20-2007 at 11:42 PM. |

| The most time consuming part of this job is in dealing with shipping. The logistics are crazy. Rhino came in with $60 in brokerage. Xylotex controllers came in with $50 in brokerage. Gonna try source it through the local shops/co's. If they can't then I'll take the risk of shipping via standard postal service. Jeez! 3 weeks of this. |

| I think you've got the right idea! I'll be updating my website tomorrow with a recommended parts list -- I added an exploded view drawing and some general descriptions for the 8020 axes. Hopefully that will help with your design. And I'm happy to ship to Canada via USPS. I just added international shipping options to my page, so feel free to order. Ahren www.cncrouterparts.com |
