I've been trying come up with something to use as a ballscrew cover. Commercial covers are just too expensive (gortite and Hypalon). I can't seem to find anything that will work well. i've searched through a lot of different types of convoluted tubing and very stretchable tubing, plastic bag sleeves (i think these may get caught in the ballscrew). does anyone know of something that works well and is cheaper than $40/ft? -Matt |

| Ah. I too would like to see what other materials might work. I imagine that the Gorite and such are the optimal material, but there does have to be something else that could be used. I was thinking about leather, but it would crack over time. Whatever is used needs to hold up well against coolants too. So far I have resigned myself to getting a store bought set, but this will be a little way down the road. So any other ideas?

| There is an old thread with some good ideas. Here's an idea for a cheap bellows style ballscrew cover http://www.cnczone.com/forums/archiv...hp/t-5392.html Nothing wrong with starting a new one and maybe comming up with more ideas though. Has anyone tried the Satellite Boot idea(http://www.skyvision.com/store/mi_bellows_boot.html)?? Does anyone know the inside/outside diameters of these and the compressibilities? |
