What is a tapped rod?

I saw a tapped rod on vxb.com. What is a tapped rod?

That rod is made of case hardened material. It is sometimes supplied with tapped holes in order to fasten the rod to a support rail. That support rail is normally used with the slotted linear bushing shown on that link.

well actually they dont sell supports for their rails.
i am using the same 20mm rails on my machine and i had to build my own support blocks.

jimluu, It appears Magick-Man has the answer unless the hole pattern matches another supplier like Thomson, SKF etc.

Thanks. I wonder if I run 3 parallel 1.5" or 2" rails per side for my x-axis that the flex will be acceptable. Trying to avoid making my own supports. I'll be using a trim router so I think my 36" gantry will be around 40bls tops.
